A Thorough Examination inspection is similar to an MOT for your car. It is a legal requirement that is carried out periodically on all trucks with forks.
Thorough Examinations carried out by Toyota are accredited by the CFTS (Consolidated Fork Truck Services) and comply to both LOLER 98 and PUWER 98 regulations. To comply to LOLER 98 all lifting parts of the truck are checked including chains, hydraulic systems and masts. To comply to PUWER 98 regulations all other parts of the truck are checked including seat restraints, steering and braking.
The responsibility for obtaining this report of Thorough Examination lies with you, the user of the truck (whether you own, lease or hire it). The only exception may be for a truck operating under a short-term contract of less than a year, in which case the hiring company should provide you with a copy of the current report of Thorough Examination.
