Why is it important to receive accredited training?
It is important for any forklift training to be carried out by an accredited body such as AITT for a number of reasons:
Who are AITT?
The Association of Industrial Truck Trainers (AITT) are a nationally recognised non-profit accrediting body for workplace transport and material handling equipment training, they are responsible for providing and maintaining the highest standard for operators, instructors, and examiners.
By using guidance set out in the HSE Approved Code of Practice, the AITT publish their own guidance whilst also ensuring that training providers are regularly audited and that their courses are verified.
The AITT is steered by a council of elected members consisting of industry experts who have been nominated to represent the AITT’s network which consists of over 500 members, 1800 qualified instructors and over 350,000 candidates who are trained to AITT standards.
How to ensure you are receiving accredited training:
When looking for forklift training solutions, it important to ensure that the provider is fully accredited. Accredited training providers will be verifiable by a certificate received from an accrediting body such as AITT, RTITB, ITSSAR or NPORS. These four accreditors are the leading bodies in the industry and together form the ABA (Accrediting Bodies of Association).
Typically, any accredited training provider will feature the logo of any one of these bodies on their website or training materials.
