Positive Charge: The Benefits of Electric Forklift Trucks in the Workplace

When you think ‘forklift truck’ – what comes to mind? We’re sure for most of you it will be a large diesel or gas powered machine which does all the heavy lifting. And in most cases… you’d be correct! But did you know that we also supply electric powered forklift trucks in capacities up to 8.5 tonnes?

That’s right, the Toyota Traigo range of electric forklift trucks are available in 24v, 48v, 80v and HT (high tonnage models). With lift capacities ranging between 1.0 and 8.5 tonnes and lift heights up to 7.5 metres, they offer a flexible alternative to diesel or gas-powered trucks.

Available as either 3 wheeled models for excellent manoeuvrability or 4 wheeled for increased stability, they offer a choice of 24, 48 or 80-volt batteries, with lithium-ion technology as an option. The trucks are suited to both a range of indoor and outdoor applications, such as loading, unloading, stacking and horizontal transport.

One of the greatest benefits of these trucks is that they are highly energy-efficient delivering increased performance with less energy consumption. Our latest Traigo 48 for example, is up to 9% more energy efficient than the next best competitor in its class.

There is also the option of Lithium-Ion battery technology on some of the models which allows for fast opportunity charging throughout the working day for increased productivity and reduced battery changes. This could be a particular benefit for larger, multi-shift operations.

All of the trucks offer excellent all-round performance for all materials handling operations and are equipped with Toyota’s System of Active Stability (SAS) which is a patented safety system that helps to protect the driver, the load and the truck.
